Latest Music

There are two songs that are quickly impressing me more and more every day. The first song is "No Air" by Jordan Sparks featuring Chris Brown. Besides two great singers, what makes this song so special is the onomatopoeia associated with the word "air." When the singers sing "air" the melody is so light and wispy that the air is almost palpable. It is a great example of how songs and feelings can interrelate. I fully expect this song to receive a nomination for Record of the Year at next year's Grammy Awards to be held in February 2009.

The second song is "4 Minutes" by Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake and Timbaland. Madonna has been impacting the music business (positively and negatively) for almost 25 years. Last month she was inducted into the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame for her contributions and is now releasing her latest single. However, what makes this song so hot is Madonna's choices and not necessarily her vocal talent. Her decision to include JT and Timbaland on this record reinvented her music once again. JT is the strong standout on this song and Madonna sort of washes into the background. However, with all the accolades this song is receiving as well as how fast it is climbing the charts, this song should garner a Grammy nod for Madonna for Best Pop Female Performance next year.

At the least expect both of these songs to show up in the Best Pop Collaboration category when the Grammy nominees are announced later this year.
